2014-2016 Travels

I haven't updated this blog in 4 years but I have been to some places since then.

In 2014, I went to Austin, Texas to visit Lynn.
In 2015, I went to Big Sur with Lynn (favorite trip in USA).
This year, I went to Germany, Netherlands, France, Belgium, and Luxemburg with CSULB! Sheryl was the best travel mate ever.

More pictures to come!

History: Arcadia and Monrovia

While filling out an (surprisingly detailed) employment application for Ocean Media, I looked up my old address in Arcadia. I think this is maybe the most nostalgic Google has made me. Looking at the street view on Maps, it brought back a lot of memory. The fact that I can see clearly (on a screen) the places that were so meaningful to me is really awesome.

Church where I took viola lessons in Monrovia

From 2000-2004, these were the places I spent a lot of time and thought a lot about. It's crazy that they're so distant to me now...

LACMA's Pavilion for Japanese Art

LACMA's Pavilion for Japanese Art- interior, 3rd floor
LACMA's Pavilion for Japanese Art is one of the coolest buildings I have been in-- it is so organic and flowing, almost a textbook example of organic architecture. It was liking walking inside a snail, the way it spirals and curves.

Netsuku are tiny sculptures that I like to think of as ancient Re-Ment. They are used to weigh down the ties around the waist of a kimono (since there are no pockets, they hang objects from a belt around the kimono).

View from inside the Pavilion to outside (the Tar Pits are right next door)

The NYPL Schwarzman Building is famous for the pair of lions, Patience and Solitude, at its front steps.
